The 2 photos blow are of a typical American 8 Day Strike movement. Notice the black smudges where attempts have been made to lubricate and re-lubricate this movement without rebushing the holes.

The next 2 photos show a closeup of two very worn holes in the same clock, and then the same holes after rebushing. Note the attempts to "close the holes", the dimple marks around the holes. Note also that the hole on the left was so badly worn that a bit of it still exists outside the diameter of the new bushing. I should note that this is an extreme case-the holes are not usually this badly worn.
